Ceramides and Their Benefits.

By Marina

Ceramides have a proven record as one of the greatest anti-aging ingredients.

We would like to explain how ceramides help skin to retain moisture, fortify its protective barrier, and keep its appearance young and healthy.

What are they?

Ceramides are lipids (fats) that are found naturally in the top layers of skin. Ceramides help form the skin’s protective layer and help skin retain moisture.

Their role?

Ceramides shielding the skin   against environmental assailants such as chemicals, UV Light, frost, pollution. Ceramides also have a signaling function- they send signals to cell to divide, determine their kind and their life span, thus no surprise ceramides regulate the appearance and health of your skin.

Ceramides have been used to treat dryness, itching, irritation and assisting in slowing down the aging of the skin.

Why do we add them to skin care products?

Daily our skin is exposed to irritants, pollution, extreme temperatures or simply aging. Our skins natural ability to produce ceramides is reduced by these factors. We want to restore ceramides and therefore restore protective layer of the skin. In order to achieve it we add ceramides to the skin care product. It will help your skin to fight against environmental conditions.

Also, by the age of 40 we lose 60% of naturally occurring ceramides.

Addition of ceramides in our skincare become critical.

What to expect from ceramides?

Addition of ceramides to skin care product will give you well moisturized, smooth, plump, healthy looking skin with fewer visible lines and wrinkles. Ceramides are most effective when combined with other ingredients such as retinol, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and peptides.

How will I know what ceramides to use?

Generally, you’ll see the word ceramide on the ingredients label. (Ceramide 2, Ceramide 3, Ceramide 6). Ceramides extracted from plant cells are superior in terms of safety and toxicity, our company DO NOT use ceramides extracted from the bovine central nervous system.

Functions of Ceramides in Skin Care

Ceramide 2: Improves water balance. Improves barrier function of the skin

Ceramide 3: Improves water balance. Restores damaged skin. Protects the skin

Ceramide 6II: Increases desquamation without irritation. Improves skin smoothness

Can I use it for sensitive skin?

Ceramides are identified as skin-identical ingredients. They are ideal for all skin types—even the most sensitive, breakout-prone, or irritated skin. They’re also great as ingredient for eye cream.
