Module 3
Becoming an Intelligent Skincare Consumer
Dear Skin Journey Participant,
Welcome to Module 3.
Active ingredients are among the most exciting—and confusing—parts of modern skincare. Retinoids, vitamin C, peptides, exfoliating acids, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and many new ingredients promise smoother, brighter, firmer-looking skin.
But more active ingredients do not necessarily mean better results.
For mature skin, the goal is not to create the most powerful routine. It is to create the right routine—one that addresses your skin's needs while protecting its natural barrier.
In this module, you will learn:
What active ingredients are and how many your skin actually needs
The difference between foundational skincare and active treatments—and why both matter
Which ingredients can genuinely benefit mature skin and which trends may not be worth following
How to introduce active ingredients gradually and safely
Which combinations may increase sensitivity and how to protect your skin barrier
By the end of this module, you should be able to look at a skincare ingredient and ask:
What does it do?
Why does my skin need it?
How should I use it?
And can my skin tolerate it?
